The last front has really done it! The fishing has never been better. The redfish have been all over our plastics and the trout have been good under the birds for little dinks, but have had better fish wading shallow flats. The water temps had warmed up and had the fish a little slow to bite, but with the dropping temps things have heated up.

The best baits are bassassassin curly tail grubs chartreuse. Thanks Captain

Reds have been good with some very good fish this last week. Reds have been biting on Spoondog spoons in the gold yellow bucktail color. The specks have been good but a lot of small undersize fish in the schools. The best baits have been the baby Bassassins in the red white color and the new color space guppy.

Thanks Captain Jerry Norris

The last big blow really got the fish schooling up. The redfish have really

shown up and the trout are busting shrimp on top. The water conditions are

very good with the temp around 74 degrees. The majority of the action has

been under the birds for the most part for small fish. Some larger fish have

been caught around the schools of mullet. The bird action was good early last

week and slacked off a bit due to boat pressure during the weekend but kicked

back on Monday. Overall the fishing should only get better during the next

several days with a new front approaching.

Sabine Lake has turned on and the latest front has the fish biting. Several trips this week have yielded some very good stringers of fish. Trout to 5lbs. are busting topwaters at the jetties. The flounder run has started and some good solid flounder are being caught on live shad. The redfishing has been great with every party limiting out during the week on Limetruse Bass Assassins.

The birds have worked off and on but not real strong. This next front is the strongest early front we have had in years and when it settles out the fishing will only get better.

Fishing has slowed a bit due to the cold front that past last week. Had a trip out on Friday and caught some Flounder though. With the cooling temps and the dropping water levels the Flounder should start to get going good. The fall migration of Flounder has started and with the good water conditions the trout and reds are not far behind.

9/2/00

Fishing has been good with the west wind light in the mornings. Water conditions have changed from day to day with good conditions in the protected areas for the most part. Trout have been good on topwaters, with the chrome color patterns working best. Update on the Sabine Loop Hole, delivered petitions to the Parks and Wildlife commission on Wed. of this week with a great reception. They are very interested in the impact of the loose law enforcement efforts on Sabine and will be investigating and making recommendations in the near future. Thanks to all the hard work of our concerned anglers in our area and other areas that responded positively to the petitions.

Thanks Jerry Norris

Fishing has slowed bit during the week with the weather change on Tuesday. The conditions seem to be getting better with the ozone action days back in force. The North end of Sabine Lake has been producing the best action during the heat of the day fishing pods of bait. trout and reds have been taken on topwaters all during the day.

Thanks Captain Jerry Norris

The weather has been great and the fishing has followed with some very good days. Trout to 8lbs and a lot of redfish mixed in. Reds have been scarce lately but are showing up in good numbers now. The lake has been very good when the water gets flat. Bait has been the key to finding the fish. Topdogs have been the best on flat days. Purple demon has been the best color. Mcfaddin beach has been great as of late out by the Arco plant on the first sand bar early in the morning.

Remember when fishing Sabine only keep Texas Size AND Bag Limits. Update on Sabine Loophole: The Texas Parks and Wildlife has now said that all fish coming to Texas docks must not exceed the daily bag limit of the state of Texas. This includes the 2 day possession limit.

The old days of raping Sabine are history thanks to some hard work by some unselfish anglers. Fisherman can no longer go to the short rigs and catch hundreds of trout and bring them back into Texas.

Fishing has slowed a bit due to the weather change on Monday the 14th. Looks to be getting in good shape for the rest of the week. Winds have dropped and should help fishing. Water in good shape in the deep channels and with the high tide should help flood the flats with clear green water. Fishing on the north end of the lake has been the best spot lately.

Capt. Jerry Norris

8/11/00

Fishing has been great with many specks in the five and six pound range. Bassassassins have been the best baits with grape green tail working best. The bassassassin screw lock head is the best hook I have ever seen, it hooks fish and holds them on. Try one . The full moon is coming up so look for the bite to switch to the afternoon. Remember, keep only legal Texas Limits when fishing Sabine. You will hear more about this issue from from me in the future.

Please help conserve our resources.

Fishing has been great with the weather in such fine shape. Fish have been

caught in good numbers all along the beachfront. The water has been great

shape and the fish are on the big white shrimp that are spawning. The oil

platforms offshore have been good also. The ling are very numerous and very

large. The Spanish mackerel have been awesome, we have been catching some in

the 5lb. and 6lb. class. Slow sinking mirrolures are the best baits to use.

Captain Jerry Norris

7/24/00

Fishing has been consistent through the hot days of July so far with some

good days with 40 to 50 fish caught on the best of days. The trout have moved

up shallow finally to feed on Mullet and that has opened the door for some

good topwater action. The best bait has been the Topdog in the Black color.

The conditions should improve throughout the month of August as usual with

the light winds in the morning and the mild fronts that pass during the

latter part of the month. The Redfish have shown up also in the late

afternoons the best baits for them has been Chartreuse bassassassins on a 1/8

ounce head.

7/17/00

Fishing has slowed a bit due to the high winds, and low tides. The best bite

has been in the afternoon. The birds have been working over shrimp in the

bay. The water conditions have been poor making it tough to catch fish. Ed

Steadman and Tony Housman and I managed to catch 15 decent trout last week on

Tuesday.

Capt. Jerry Norris

7/10/00

Fishing has been good with some great days, finally no wind up to Monday the 10th.

The Troutmasters came through with some good stringers over the weekend. The

water turned green with bait and fish cooperating. Many fish were caught in

the surf on TopDog mirrolures. I was really surprised to see that no one

caught a 8 or 9lb. trout. There were some nice fish caught though.
