The Double Tail Rig

Entice more strikes by offering fish two morsels on one hook.

Rig a soft-plastic bait on a jig head in the normal fashion;then cover the hook point with a smaller lure such as a small plastic tail with a two-inch body. I've enjoyed great success fishing this rig on grass flats for redfish and under a cork for seatrout.

This setup resembles a tiny baitfish hovering above a larger one, and it fools wary fish because it requires very little motion to keep the tiny tail wiggling - it can actually attract fish while the jig sits on the bottom and minimal water movement makes the smaller tail quiver.

Test various bait color combinations to find out which patterns really work for your fishing area.
